There’s a lot of lightweight rain gear on the market that’s easy to stuff in a backpack — or even a pocket. Gore-Tex fabrics are great, and I’d love to have a set of Frogg Toggs, but my go-to rain protection for the last few years has been my Filson Field Coat. It’s not light, and it takes up a lot of space in the pack if I have to take it off, but it’s nearly bulletproof and it does a great job of keeping me dry.
Anyway, here’s today’s show. I’m not saying you should run right out and buy a Filson jacket (though you’d be pleased with one if you did). I’m just saying don’t forget the rain gear when you head out this spring.
